To be sure that your purchase of French wine has passed tasting and analytical tests, look out for Vin de Pays (VDP), Vin Délimité de Qualité Supérieure (VDQS) and Appellation d’Origine Controlée (AOC). But don’t just rely on the label – check producers’ reviews and awards too.
Buying Chablis wine.
When it comes to buying Chablis wine, you’ll find different wines within the official AOC Chablis designation. The most exclusive are Chablis grands crus, or great growths, followed by Chablis premiers crus (first growths) and finally AOC Chablis. While many Chablis wines are ready to drink, buying Chablis wine can also be an investment, as some Chablis grands crus can be kept for up to 15 years.
